If we ever win the lotto, our first splurge will be to hire a full-time, on-site masseuse. Keep the huge mansions and personal chefs—we’ll gladly eat Hot Pockets in our tiny apartment, so long as we can be pampered daily with massages and facials. Until that day arrives, we’ll make do with an occasional day spa visit. Too often, however, we have found ourselves forced to choose between the luxury of boutique spas and the bare-bones amenities of more affordable chains.

The attentive staffers at In Light of Touch make us feel like we hit the jackpot on every visit. A favorite of West-siders in the know, this Beaverton day spa just moved a few blocks into a bigger—and picture-perfect—new space. All the favorite spa treatments are on the menu, from Swedish and couples massages to custom facials, but our personal faves include expert waxing services (adios, girlstache!) and innovative treatments like back facials.

Rates are beautifully middle of the road, but the experience is decidedly luxe. In fact, we’ve shifted our lotto ticket dollars into a day spa fund—we’ve found the good life for less.
