I’m putting the money I’ve been spending in newspapers into Portland Picks. — ~ Name omitted by request

Get Ready to Roll

What is it with Portlanders and bicycles? And why can’t we talk about it? It’s like this: You know how it’s okay to make fun of your own family, but if anyone else does it, the daggers come out? Same deal with cycling. So what if we’re slightly obsessive about bikes, biking, bike lanes, bike ordinances, bike festivals, and bike tattoos? At least we’ve got style, pizzazz, and originality.

Case in point: Bikeasaurus. Tucked away in a tiny space under the Hawthorne Bridge sits the cutest little bike-accessory and local-gifts shop we ever did see. This is not your average accessory shop (c’mon, this is Portland!). Bikeasaurus boasts a cool collection of charmingly unique goodies from bike-themed jewelry, wallets, flasks, tees, books, and coffee cozies to functional items like water bottles (made from sustainable materials), helmets (funky and stylish from local folks Nutcase), bells and horns (with whimsical designs), Helmuffs (earmuffs that attach to helmet straps), stylish seat covers, and bags.

Let the others think we’re fanatical about biking. We know Portlanders are just passionate. And we wouldn’t trade that passion for anything.
