Portlanders are in love with two things: beer and sandwiches. These are not crushes or passing summer flings. We are flat out smitten with sipping local craft brews and devouring fresh ingredients lovingly ensconced in bread.
This pretty much makes the geniuses behind Bunk Bar our fair city’s soulmates. Once the fever-pitched lunch rush dies down at Bunk Sandwiches, the owners now drift over the river into their new digs: the minimalist, warehouse-chic Bunk Bar in the Central Eastside district. Bunk Bar opens at 3 pm and stays open beyond late, serving up local brews and a full bar alongside some all-time faves (just typing “Meatball Parmigiana” makes us simultaneously salivate and sign up for spin class). There are also some new offerings—now that there’s elbow room for the Mad Sammie Scientists to experiment—that are as tasty as they are adventurous.
In the space between sipping and feasting, try these four words on for size: Vintage. Ted. Nugent. Pinball. In other words, Bunk Bar is a fun sandwich.
